Detta har ibland ifrågasatts, ofta i kombination med påståendet att filosofi mest bara är en massa tyckande och prat, men filosofen Arnold Zuboff visar i sin artikel Theories that refute themselves i senaste numret av Philosophy Now att svaret på frågan faktiskt är ja. Artikeln är en smula långrandig (och dessutom gömd bakom betalvägg), men behöver lyckligtvis inte läsas i sin helhet, då det eleganta och vattentäta argumentet finns koncentrerat i artikelns första stycke. Håll tungan rätt i mun bara:
